THE OPPORTUNITY:

Were growing and adding a new role to our Legal Department. As a Paralegal, you will work with a team of attorneys and staff focused on meeting Freedoms various legal needs, including legal and policy research and advice and support with respect to state and federal rules relating to employment and immigration policy. Working closely with HR, you will assist employees with their immigration needs as it relates to their employment with Freedom, support the business compliance with applicable law and regulations, and help develop procedures and systems to enhance the efficiency of the legal department and responsiveness to Freedoms various businesses. Equally as important as the ability to understand and comply with immigration laws, the individual in this role must have a keen ability to build relationships, instill trust and provide the highest standard of employee support. This will require an empathetic approach and sensitivity to the long filing processes and an ever-changing legal landscape, as well as an overall commitment to Freedoms core value of caring for everyone.

THE ROLE:

  • Serve as the principal administrator for the Companys immigration and naturalization processes. This position will partner closely with an Immigration attorney to develop tools and process to enhance the candidate, employee and leadership experience.
  • Provide legal research support for new and recurring reviews of industry standards in immigration and employment law.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and HR regarding nonimmigrant and immigrant matters, requesting case-related information as needed, and keeping stakeholders informed of case updates.
  • Review/signature of employment-based nonimmigrant documents with minimal assistance or supervision, including H-1B, TN, Labor Certification (PERM) and Immigrant Petition.
  • Perform I-9 reverifications.
  • Work closely with outside counsel on immigration-related issues.
  • Provide information to Freedom employees and foreign nationals on immigration practices and procedures.
  • Assist with issues related to foreign national employee's immigration status.
  • Ensure employee and employer compliance with government immigration policies.
  • Maintain immigration documents for all FFN entities.
  • Implement and maintain annual review process for employee immigration documents.
  • Work with HR, the Legal Department and business leaders within Freedom to maintain consistency in the Legal Departments delivery of services to the company.
  • Assist with strategic initiatives to increase the effectiveness of HR and the Legal Department, as needed.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Legal Department including production and intake of documents.

REQUIREMENTS/CHARACTERISTICS:

  • 3-7 years of experience as a paralegal or other legal support positions.
  • 2-4 years of experience working with U.S. immigration and visa policies and law, and experience working with a variety of people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills; ability to juggle and prioritize various tasks.
  • Ability to work autonomously and partner and communicate effectively with colleagues.
  • Strong computer skills with experience mastering computer software programs.
  • A strong drive to succeed and exceed goals.
