The Role

Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Communications, the Director of Corporate Communications will be a leader in the growing Communications Department. You will develop and execute an external communications strategy that bolsters Freedom Financial Networks growing business, builds brand and positive reputation, and influences key constituents including members of the media, government agencies and legislators, investors, partners and consumer groups. This role will understand management priorities and manage multiple projects flawlessly.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and execute a communications strategy and evolve the corporate narrative in partnership with Brand Marketing and senior leadership.
  • Develop strategic narratives and pitches that increase understanding of Freedom Financials business model and the value we bring to our clients, partners and employees.
  • Understand state and federal regulatory environment and the impacts on our customers and our business to help build awareness and understanding.
  • Support our policy efforts to advance Freedoms policy and business priorities.
  • Secure and lead speaking opportunities for executives to drive visibility and thought leadership.
  • Develop messaging and talking points for spokespeople and create a range of communications materials including plans, statements, briefing materials, press releases and more. Work alongside the Brand Marketing team to develop content for promotion across various channels including social and web.
  • Cultivate and maintain deep relationships with financial, technology, consumer finance and business press, as well as key industry opinion leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of news trends and flag issues and opportunities for leadership.
  • Manage day to day relationships with various agencies.
  • Determine key metrics and provide regular reporting.
  • Assist in building out a team and support a culture that encourages sound judgement and discipline when supporting our business objectives.

What youll bring to the team:

  • Bachelors degree in Communications, English or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in communications. Financial services experience a plus.
  • Experience executing media campaigns and launches.
  • Public affairs experience including issue spotting, researching and identifying complex policy issues and opportunities and writing recommendations for policy considerations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships with members of the media, government officials and key external stakeholders.
  • Experience developing crisis communications strategy and playbooks.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with multiple projects and stakeholders.
  • Ability to see bigger picture and use creativity to innovate in the new media landscape.
  • Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality and integrity.
